Workshop

A one-time, in-classroom workshop (45 to 60 minutes) for K to 8 learners where each learner builds their own folding cardboard story machine with a hand-cranked paper scroll, then plans and illustrates a story (a sequence or a narrative) that plays across the screen like a movie, a theater stage, or a phone display. Learners experience the engineering design process (ask, imagine, plan, create, improve) and the storytelling arc (character, setting, beginning, middle, end). Each learner takes their finished Crankie home.
