Residency
Understanding story structure is a key element of literacy, and some of the best ways to build that understanding are acting out stories and creating stories of our own! In this theme-based residency, children explore an age-appropriate book through drama–unpacking the beginning, middle, and end of the story–act out the story in their own words, and then create a new story following the same beginning, middle and end structure. This fun residency builds an understanding of story structure while also giving students an opportunity to demonstrate comprehension and engage in a creative process as actors and authors.
Residencies are tailored to your needs but may include:
A kick-off assembly (performing arts only)
A required orientation meeting and planning session
A set of workshops for classes of up to 25 students each
A student culminating or sharing event
An optional evaluation meeting (an evaluation is required for grant funded programs)
