Free, FULL-DAY, in-person program for PreK–6th grade students!


The Summer Arts for Learning Academy, Baltimore City Schools' FREE program operated by Arts for Learning Maryland (formerly Young Audiences), gives students in grades PreK–6 a fun summer packed with creative exploration and arts-integrated learning from the best teachers and teaching artists in the state.

The full-day, five-week program is a fun-filled, active, and engaging summer learning experience that introduces students to new art forms, new ways of learning, and the joy of creative discovery. Students will develop socially and emotionally, expand their creative process, and explore arts experiences that support their growth!

ARTS EXPLORATIONS FOR PREK–2ND!

PreK–2nd grade students will participate in performing, visual, media, and literary arts, as well as STEM lessons, over the course of the program. Squads unite every week to share out, show off their work, and connect with artists!

ARTS MAJORS FOR 3RD–6TH!

Arts Majors offer an opportunity for our older students to delve deeper into two art forms of their choice throughout the 5 weeks of the program.

Who can attend

Baltimore City Public Schools students currently in grades PreK–6 (during the 2023–24 school year) who are enrolled at a Title I school.

Daily Aftercare

On-site aftercare, provided by our partner Smart Steps, is available from 3:00–6:00 pm each day. Snacks provided. There is a $25 non-refundable registration fee and the cost for aftercare is $75/week.

Thanks to generous donors, financial assistance may be available to cover all or part of the aftercare cost. Financial Assistance is based on need and is limited. Our team will be in touch with more information on applying for financial assistance as it becomes available.
