About This Program
Toy Design: How Do They Make This Cool Stuff?
Artist
Timothy Young
Program Type
Residency
Timothy Young worked for many years in the toy industry as both a designer and a sculptor. He has designed hundreds of toys and sculpted many toy prototypes including characters such as Darth Vader, Big Bird, and The Simpsons. He will show some of those toys, bring toy samples and prototypes, and will demonstrate some of the processes used to create toys. Students will learn to create their own toy ideas and how they are taken from concept to production.
Pricing
Typically, residencies range from $2,500 and up, but we can use your available budget and ‘work backwards’ to create a cost-effective residency for your school. We may be able to assist you in securing grant and funding opportunities.
Residencies are tailored to your needs but usually include:
- A kick-off assembly (performing arts only)
- A required orientation meeting and planning session
- A set of workshops for classes of up to 25 students each
- A student culminating or sharing event
- An evaluation meeting
