Arts for Learning's After School DC program offers students an opportunity to imagine, create, and express who they are through the arts!

Available to students currently enrolled at our two DC school locations, this FREE after-school program provides a creative and supportive environment that offers extended academic learning through arts-integrated literacy and math instruction and arts explorations.

After-School-DC I

About After School DC

After School DC is a free program operated by Arts for Learning that offers students in grades 3-5 the opportunity to engage in extended academic learning and enrichment activities every day.

After School DC is an evidence-based program providing students with:

  • A Creative & Supportive Learning Environment
  • Arts-Integrated Literacy
  • Arts Explorations
  • Field Trips

During the program, students will engage in extended academic learning and enrichment, where they will be introduced to different art forms and learn from professional teaching artists.

All classes begin with “SQUADS,” focusing on developing social-emotional skills and building a creative and caring community. Students will advance their literacy skills through arts-integrated instruction and dive deep into new arts experiences! When possible, students will move outside with their class for recess.

Who can enroll

After School DC is open to students currently enrolled at our two school locations: Boone Elementary and King Elementary.

Program dates and times

After School DC takes place March 18 through June 17, 2024, at two schools across Washington DC. Exact program days, hours, and grade levels vary by school site
