Description

Led by the experienced Wolf Trap Master Teaching Artist Katherine Lyons, participants will delve into children’s literature to uncover messages that foster a child’s social and emotional maturation. This interactive session explores drama strategies tailored to cultivate vital social-emotional skills, including empathy, respect, self-control, kindness, cooperation, problem-solving, and self-confidence. By adopting a fresh perspective on literature, “Share, Care, and Play Fair” lays the groundwork for shaping children’s hearts and minds through the transformative power of the arts.

Technical Requirements

10’ x 10’ clear area
Access to performance area 1 hour before set up
The artist will provide a sound system for audiences of over 50 people or for large rooms/gyms
The artist will need a power outlet to plug in the sound system
The room needs to have blinds or the ability to block the light at least partially
The artist will be in communication about additional technical requirements specific to the program
