Math Detectives: Where’s the Math?

Led by Wolf Trap Master Teaching Artist Katherine Lyons, participants will discover the mathematics in children’s literature and engage in dynamic, arts-infused activities that align with early learning math standards. These experiences will captivate children’s interest, fostering both their participation in creative endeavors and their development of essential mathematical skills such as number and number sense, geometry, measurement, graphing and pre-algebra.

Participants will delve into the art of viewing books through a new lens. We will unveil the innate mathematical concepts woven into the fabric of storytelling, all within the framework of this enlightening professional development workshop.
