Baby Books, Toddler Tales: The Story Experience

Description

Led by Wolf Trap Master Teaching Artist Katherine Lyons, educators will experience an engaging and highly interactive professional development workshop. This workshop illustrates how strategically incorporating props, movement, music, and drama can breathe vitality into toddler stories. These innovative approaches effectively reinforce crucial pre-math concepts, including positional words, measurement, shapes, sorting, and classifying, all while fostering early literacy skills and instilling a lifelong passion for books in young children.

Participants will be able to explore a diverse selection of books curated for infants and toddlers. They will understand how these books can be elevated and enriched using elements such as music, movement, gestures, chants, and props, engaging all the senses for a comprehensive learning experience. Moreover, attendees will actively practice teaching early math concepts by creatively integrating these techniques into familiar and new books.
