What will my student be learning in literacy?

Your student will be placed in an English language arts classroom that is uniquely tailored to their current reading and writing level. Young Audiences works with City Schools to identify the specific knowledge and skills at each grade level with which students tend to struggle. Instruction will be tailored to ensure students master that knowledge and those particular skills with a special focus on writing so that they return to school in the fall more prepared to succeed. Literacy instruction across all grade levels is based on a central text that all students are reading.

Data from the program in Summer 2017 shows that most students gained knowledge in reading and writing during the program which helped them perform better on standardized testing (I-Ready and Amplify) when they got back to school in the fall.
