Artist
Noa Baum
Program Type
Family Engagement Workshop

Students and families will have the chance to meet award-winning storyteller and author Noa Baum, creator of How the Birds Became Friends (Familius, 2021). In this engaging program, Noa brings a Burmese folktale to life through a lively spoken word performance, introducing themes of kindness, respect, friendship, and peace as Little Quail bravely works to bring harmony to a noisy, divided world.

After the performance, Noa shares the book’s colorful illustrations, leads interactive activities, and guides a discussion on how our choices can promote inclusion and compassion. The program concludes with a behind-the-scenes look at how a traditional oral story becomes a published picture book, inspiring students and families with the power of storytelling.
