The Mask Workshop
Jamaal—or “Mr. Root”—is a dedicated and versatile professional Hip Hop artist with more than a decade of experience facilitating workshops and live performances in the Mid-Atlantic region. By incorporating rapping, vocal percussion, and dynamic stage presence, Jamaal articulates his passionate appreciation for his artistry every time he teaches and performs. Jamaal was named the Mic-ology Spoken Word Slam Champion in 2007, and Young Audience Artist of the Year in 2016.
The Mask Workshop: Using Rhyming Couplets (Raps) to Aid in Critical Thinking About One’s Self and Class Material
Mr. Root utilizes the art forms of rapping and beatboxing to differentiate and appeal to a variety of learners while maintaining the integrity of the curriculum in the Mask Workshop. This work PD will contain useful information that teachers can use immediately!
-Educators will be more comfortable using rhyming couplets in lessons.
-Templates and step-by-step guidance will aid in applying to various subjects
*All workshops longer than 90 minutes include an on-site orientation meeting.
