BAI is seeking Writing Coaches for summer 2026!

Writing Coaches will collaborate to design and lead writer’s workshops that support interns in developing two core pieces: an artist statement and a draft of their college essay. Through engaging, supportive writing experiences, coaches help interns build stamina, discover their voices, and embrace revision as part of the creative process.

Each coach works closely with a small group of 7–8 interns, offering verbal and written feedback through workshops and Google Docs. Weekly blog posts provide additional opportunities for reflection and creativity in a safe, imaginative space. Coaches also share student drafts with external evaluators to support program learning and improvement. One Lead Writing Coach per cohort ensures alignment across workshops and creates space to share best practices.

“This is not just another summer job; this is hard work to effect change, to support rising seniors, to grow in our understanding and practices of social justice. We teach writing to empower each human to effect change in communities, local to global. That is a monumental responsibility; Writing Coaches who want to do this all summer need to take that very seriously. It's not just a summer job; it's an invitation to change lives, ourselves included.”
